HTC Hero and HTC Lancaster could both come June 24th

If a prediction made in a recent report by research firm Strategy Analytics is to be believed, Google Android operating system based phones are expected to grow by a staggering 900 percent this year.
The report which in contrast predicts just a moderate growth rate of 79 percent for Apple iPhone seems to lay stress on several factors such as the open source structure of Android and potential larger user base as reason for predicting such strong growth figures for it.
Explaining the rationale behind the prediction, Neil Mawston from Strategy Analytics said in a statement “A relatively low-cost licensing model, its semi-open-source structure and Google’s support for cloud services have encouraged companies such as HTC, Motorola, Samsung, T Mobile, Vodafone and others to support the Android operating system and it is now in a good position to become a top-tier player in smartphones over the next two to three years.”
Though some experts believe that the stellar projected growth rates for Android may be difficult to achieve, given the expected 20 percent growth rate in the smartphone market, others point out that the current low user base of Android may work out in its favor in achieving the said growth rate.number of view: 37

10 HTC phones to be released in 2009, so how many Android?
Jun 8th
HTC had an amazing 2008 – no doubt. Not only did they increase quarter to quarter revenue by 20%, with nearly $50 billion bucks streaming in, but they also set a new bar for mobile hotness. Everywhere you turned, people were wishing this, that and the other looked more like one of HTC’s new Touch devices.
You know… Touch HD, Touch Pro, Touch 3G, Touch Diamond…
In fact, when the HTC created T-Mobile G1 was launched, many people were wishing it looked like one of HTC’s other devices. Chances are they won’t have to wish much longer.
According to DigiTimes, HTC is set to release 10 new handsets in 2009. ALL of these devices will be based on either Windows Mobile or Android. That means there is a pretty darn good chance that HTC alone launches 2 or 3 new Android devices in 2009.
That number is just a guess, of course. Your guess is as good as mine. So what do you think? How many Android Phones will HTC release in 2009?number of view: 91

Singapore – 4 June 2009 — HTC Corporation, a global leader in mobile phone innovation and design, today debuted its newest QWERTY smartphone, the HTC Snap™. Designed with a set of features selected to deliver everything customers need without overwhelming them with things they don’t, the HTC Snap makes it easier than ever to stay in contact with life’s most important people.
Your Inner Circle, your most important people
HTC brings streamlined communication to greater heights with its innovative Inner Circle feature which allows HTC Snap users to press a dedicated Inner Circle key to bring emails from a preselected group of people to the top of their inbox, enabling important messages to be acted upon immediately.
“Recognizing that people are being overwhelmed by an avalanche of email, the HTC Snap introduces Inner Circle, an HTC innovation that makes it easy for people to prioritize messages from the most important people in their lives at the press of a button,” said John Wang, Chief Marketing Officer, HTC Corporation. “The HTC Snap represents the latest step in HTC’s mission to create a range of innovative smartphones, each with specific benefits designed to both surprise and delight our customers.”

A full QWERTY yet with a sleekness that fits in your hand
With a slim, sleek profile designed to fit perfectly in the hand, the HTC Snap measures less than half an inch (12 mm), yet it can deliver up to eight and a half hours of talk time with the standard 1500mAh battery. The full QWERTY keyboard is ergonomically designed with extra-large domed keys and responsive tactile feedback to make typing emails and text messages fast, accurate and comfortable. High-speed 3G HSPA connectivity makes it quick and easy to send pictures to friends, access favorite social networking sites, or download large files while on the go.
Synchronizing all your business or personal needs
The HTC Snap is powerful enough for experienced business users looking for an affordable, straightforward choice for remotely synchronizing email, calendar and contacts with their Microsoft Exchange server. However, the flexible Microsoft Windows Mobile® 6.1 Standard platform allows the HTC Snap to also be simple enough for first-time smartphone users wanting to keep their family life organized.

Android HTC Hero / G3 Early Build Features
Jun 6th
This truly is turning into the Summer of Smartphones. The Palm Pre, of course, has already debuted to mostly positive reviews, and seemingly endless clues point to a next-gen iPhone launch in the very near future.
Now there’s word that mobile handset giant HTC, maker of the popular Android-based T-Mobile G1, will launch another Android phone, the HTC Hero, on June 24 in London. The report from the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) states the Hero will come in two configurations, one with a QWERTY keyboard and one without. The keyboard model will be named the HTC Memphis or HTC Lancaster, and will be sold exclusively by AT&T Wireless for six months starting in the third quarter, EDN states.
In addition to running Android (Google’s up-and-coming mobile operating system that’s likely to cross over to netbooks soon), the Hero will feature HTC’s own TouchFLO 3D user interface. If you want to see TouchFLO 3D in action, check out the HTC Touch Diamond2 or HTC Touch Pro2, two iPhone rivals that run Microsoft’s Windows Mobile OS.
Reports from the UK indicate HTC is planning a bash for June 24, and that it’s notifying journalists to “save the date” for a big launch event.
It’s no secret that HTC has big plans for Android. Earlier this year it announced plans to ship at least three Android smartphones in 2009, including the HTC Magic, a slick handset that debuted at February’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The upcoming T-Mobile G2, slated to ship in July, will be very similar to the HTC Magic, according to various reports.
HTC must be wondering if it has timed its Hero bash just right. Will the press and public still be swooning over the Palm Pre and new iPhone?number of view: 34
